Mark Kenly Domino Tan 2014 Spring Summer

Mark Tan

- Ecua-Andino

Onigo

So I’ve been working on this post since months ago, however it really did take me much longer than expected…since I change my beauty products quite frequently, I had to re-write some parts and re-take photos until hmm... I gave up on it. The fact is, probably I will be adding some new items to the list next week already.

Anyway, here are my "NOW" everyday morning beauty essentials:

1. Morning skin care & cleansing:

- Eve Lom Muslin Cloth
I use only water together with Eve Lom's facial cloth to clean my face in the morning, no facial cleanser, most type of face wash takes away not only the oil but also the water from your skin and makes it harder to put on foundation afterward, so only clean water in the morning! Eve Lom’s facial cloth helps me to clean up the night cream leftover from the night before, and makes my face fresh enough even with just water!

- Estée Lauder Night Repair / Lancôme Génifique
I then put just the serum in the morning for moisturising. Night Repair on a dry day, and Génifique when the skin is more greasy = Night Repair in winter and Génifique on summer days. I also use them at night when I feel my skin is less stable or being sensitive.

- Darphin Vital Protection SPF50
I was recommended this product by a friend and I am now using my 3rd bottle. Best morning sun block ever! It gives sun protection at SPF 50 which means I normally don’t have to re-apply it during the day and the texture locks the water on my face and gives a natural shine on the skin.
2. Base makeup:

- Lancôme serum fondation
I had my very first Lancôme foundation after being recommended by my Japanese model friend (who is often on the cover of Japanese beauty magazines) and have stayed committed ever since. I started with a Lancôme liquid foundation with the Asia exclusive colour. I apply only a very small amount of it with foundation brush ( I use both brushes from Armani beauty and No.7 from Boots), and a bottle of Lancôme foundation lasted…forever for me. I use it almost everyday and still haven't finish my first bottle after 3 years. I guess it is not recommended to use an opened cosmetic product for such a long time so after three and a half years I had it upgraded to Lancôme serum foundation. It gives a stronger coverage and moisturise even better than the liquid foundation.

- Nars Multiple
I am not sure if Nars still makes them in the color shade I have but it is the perfect natural mat bronzer I have found so far. it creates natural shadow to highlight the eyebrow bones, nose shadow, cheekbone…etc. Oh and it also works as a great lip concealer.

- Kate eyebrow pencil
This is one product which I have not yet found a replacement in Europe yet. I ask people to bring it to me every time I catch someone traveling from Asia to Europe. The natural black color is the best eyebrow pencil I could find since I stopped dying my hair 5 years ago.

3. Eyes:

- Lancôme Hypnôse Doll Eyes Waterproof Mascara
I had been faithful to Shiseido's Majolica Majorca's comb type mascaras + white base for years when I still lived in Japan. However my stockage finally came to an end 3 yeas after moving to Paris…and when I caught up with my beautiful Japanese friend Risa (who now works for L'Oréal Japan), one of the prettiest girl back in college time, she shared with me the secret of her curly butterfly eyelashes: Lancôme Doll Eyes mascaras. I put it not only on my eyelashes but also on my eyebrows, too. No mascara base needed anymore!

- Kate Liquid Eyeliner Pen
I draw my eyeliner simply along the end of my eyes, and the liquid eyeliner is so far the longest-lasting with a very easy to apply tiny tip to get the precise angle to the end. The only problem is that it’s water/oil proof functions so well that I have to be very patient when removing them at night.

- Eyeshadows, Nars Duo and Urban Decay Naked Palette
I have many options when it comes to eyeshadows. If I have to pick a small pack to travel with, it’d be Nars Duo eyeshadow. When at home and when I don’t know what eyeshadow color to wear in the morning, I'd open my Naked eye palette. Whichever one I put on, the Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer is a MUST for the eye makeup to last for the whole day. And a dash of Dior Eye Prime helps to get the eyeshadow color stand out more!

4. Lips:

- Dior Lip Glow
This is not only the morning essential but also the must item in my makeup pouch which I carry with me wherever I go. It gives a natural red color to the lips and moisturises the lips just like a great lip balm does!

- Dior Addict Fluid stick
I then damp a very little amount of the Dior fluid stick and take the extra amount off by tissue to get the final natural look. I first thought the colour’d be too red for daily use and now I carry it with me all the time when I go out. A Tiny amount to get the natural daily look, a fully painted lips for emergency night soirée.

5. Let my hair down and I am finally ready to go!

- Effortless look is never as effortless as it looks like.

It is a very bad habit but I must confess that I barely have breakfast in my usual life - I'd stay in my bed until the very last minute since I was...5 years old I think. However for some occasions I do try my best to attend to a breakfast meeting, for example the Dior breakfast back in PFW, or the breakfast at Ladurée when invited by KCD to celebrate Tory Burch's first Paris Pop-Up Store inside Galeries Lafayette.

I only knew of Tory Burch's bags and shoes back in Asia, however the autumn winter collection I saw earlier on KCD's press day in Paris did impress me by it's beautiful carpet prints.

The Tory Burch pop-up store is now at its temporary corner on the 3rd floor of Galeries Lafayette. It will be moved to its permanent corner on the same floor which'd be expectedly twice of the temporary space!

I've been talking about my new found love PB0110( ) quit a lot recently.

The first time I met a PB0110 product was after a casual cafe time at The Broken Arm, I couldn't take my eyes off the beautiful CM4 in mint green in their showcase - I soon asked the staff to take it out from the glass box and noted down the brand's name on my phone, and found on their facebook page that they are showing their 2014 autumn/winter collection in Paris during PFW, where I finally met the founder of PB0110, Mr. Phillip Bree in person, and learned about the deep concept story of the brand: "The Beloved Objects".

#PB0110( ) Inspiration image

The stuffed toy which accompanied your childhood.
The first agenda received on the graduation day from your parents.
The thing that you'd be so worried about during the whole flight when you mistakenly checked it in with the suitcase.

Found in Germany, the son of the 40-year-old history leather bag brand Bree family, Mr. Phillip Bree was inspired by the travel bag he received from his father at his age of 16. The bag which has been traveling with him for more than 25 years gave him the idea to create a brand with long lasting high quality and aesthetic design - the PB0110( ).

#Phillip Bree(founder of PB0110)received this bag from his father in 1988, which he now still uses.

The first thing I was curious about was the brand's name, and it was just as simple as most people's e-mail address: the initial alphabet of Mr. Phillip Bree, followed by his birthday, October 1st. Though coincidentally the company's registration day happened to be on the same day without being planned.

The bracket which comes in the end links to the core DNA of the brand, from a therapies book about the idea of "Beloved Objects" which Phillip found in a old book store in Germany. Being reminded of the bag he cherishes from his father, every stains and scratches left on it tells a story of the time shared with it, and eventually made it a very unique and meaningful piece to himself. The blank between the brackets leaves every user to complete their own story and to make them their very own bags.

"Karl Lagerfeld's mentioned the pillow which travels with him everywhere in his documentary film. And I thought, everybody has something like that, a beloved object." said Phillip. "Well Ageing, Quality, Aesthetic", an object that grows with time, it is not going to be an "IT bag", but a very unique "Your" bag.

#PB0110 bags use the VVN leather which Louis Vuitton uses for their bag handle. A natural un-dyed cow skin which darken its colour as time passes. PB0110( ) AB3 bag.
It happened one time when she had to hide this swiss knife in the airport's toilette for security check, and when she returns she couldn't find it anymore. She asked the cleaning lady but the answer was no. After telling the cleaning lady what it means to her, the lady returned the knife to her.

When asked about what are the main ideas when it comes to the design, Founder and material researcher Phillip Bree gave me two words: "Structure and Transport". Four designers were invited by Phillip Bree to contribute the ideas into the bag design: women's bag by artist and designer Ayzit Bostan, men's and kids models are by the London based shoes and accessories designer Christine Ahren; PB0110 accessories are designed by Berlin based product designer Christian Mezner. The fittings were all by Friedericke Daumiller from Munich. Each bags are named by the designer's initials.
Earlier I did a pretty long post on the Dior Addict Event on my VOGUE Japan blog (in Japanese), here I'll try to make it shorter and easier to read.

Dior Addict Event was an event held at an art gallery in Paris by Dior Parfum, exclusively for selected bloggers to experience their brand new beauty products: Fluid Stick (not a lipstick yet a gloss) and the whole new series of their nail polishers, Dior Vernis. Thanks to VOGUE Japan, I was luckily the one invited from Japan side!

The event includes 3 parts: product introduction, make-up test by professional makeup artist & manicurist, photo shooting and filming with Dior's collaboration art works by GL-OW artists. The venue space was limited so only very few people were invited, which ensure that we could fully experience the new products and had all our questions answered.

After choosing the colour on the face chart, I had my full makeup done by professional makeup artist with the Dior Backstage Pro series, then had my lips specially done by makeup artist Violette, manicure painted by Anatole.
Finally came the photographers and the filming part, which were the most fun part, the GL-OW artists have done a really great work on digital arts with projectors, mirrors, video images. And the best part is that the audiences get to be involved in the art work and play with it.
Spring has arrived much earlier in Paris this year.
Thus 20 degrees in March doesn't seem to be anyhow usual, and the air condition has been terrible, the sun still shines so I took a walk in my favourite walking spot in Paris center - Palais Royal in the afternoon before going to Drie's Van Noten's exhibition at Les Art Décoratifs. And a little cuttie caught my attention to the newly opened Kitsuné Café in the garden of Palais Royal. This PUPPY!

I've heard about Kitsuné Café's opening in Paris from another Paris based VOGUE Japan blogger Taco's article and have been wanting to visit but for some reason I always forget to note the address down, and this is how I ended up reaching it by coincident.
The Café Kitsuné paper cups reminds me of Kiko Mizuhara's work in Kitsuné's 13/14AW Lookbook, where she holds the cup in front of a washing machine.(Oui, I'm a big fan of hers, and I checked her fan tumblr almost everyday like a kinky stalker. Even waited for almost 2 hours just to get a snap shoot of Kiko outside Chanel's Haute-Couture show)
The Kitsuné (Fox in Japanese) knit tops are totally my type of must-have pieces!

And not to forget the Lady Fox knit dresses fromJC de Castelbajac's show.

clutch右下角的三個叉叉標識(全手繪made in Champs-Elysées)則是從showroom現場可以看到,當年Albert Kahn(1860-1940法國銀行家,Archives of the Planet的攝影project的發始人)所使用過的LV行李箱上取得的靈感。

For those who follow me on Instagram might have noticed already, about my recent participation in Maison Michel Photo Contest”
.
Started last November, open until the end of June 2014, the Maison Michel Pop-Up Store located next to the Chanel flagship store on Rue Cambon, 19 Rue Cambon Paris。

Maison Michel, the hat brand by Chanel’s head of jewellery Laetitia Crahay, has been mentioned several times in my blog. The earliest could go back to the time when I first started blogging for Vogue Japan in Tokyo. I met my very first Maison Michel hat in Restir, Tokyo where I worked part-time during my 4th year of college life in Japan. “It is made in the same place and by the same designer from Chanel.”was how I was told by my colleague, that one single sentence explains enough of its value.

Similar to the story of Chanel’s early career, Coco Chanel started her fashion business by selling hats to her friends. Maison Michel’s creative director Laetitia has made the Pop-Up Store as a friend-welcoming cozy salon, and the muses of her design are mostly her close friends and family.

#Maison Michel look book postcard shoot by Karl Lagerfeld, including friends of Laetitia who have be truly supportive to her works, Lou Doillon, Sasha Pivovarova are one of them. Laetitia wears the bunny mask in the last photo. Guests are welcome to keep the postcards for free.

Putting men’s hats onto women, free the females from the over-decorated hats of her time, is what Coco Chanel did. Laetitia then sprinkles her unique sense of humour and added some playful touch on men’s hats: cats ears, destroyed touch, lace veil, feather and gold…is what Maison Michel like.

For the first time MM’s fans could find the most complete collection in the pop-up store, 4 sizes of the hats are offered here, too - whiles the other shop-in-shop only serve one size. Maison Michel’s pretty hat boxes are also being sold separately in the boutique, which I’d love to use it as a beautiful storage at home.

The entire show venue was decorated as outer space, enormous number of bags floated above the runway, models in spacesuits carried the space-coloured bag. There were also the self-rotating meteorite pouch, outer-space planet printed clutch. And for the finale, the space walkers caught the bags and flew back to the backstage.
Sky observation has became one of my leisure time hobbies after moving into my new apartment last summer. There are a very beautiful moon view from the windows in the living room and I can see the starry night through the window facing the courtyard when the sky is clear.

And doesn't it sound great to hold a star in hand? Oui it does to me!
